![]() I'll definitely be coming back the next time I make it to Napa. Visits are available Thursday - Sunday and reservations are required. Not to mention they are kid-friendly too! Currently, visits to the Scribe farm are only open to members of the Scribe Viticultural Society. They have some good and reasonably priced wines. I never really expected to be bringing home bottles of Zinfandel from a Napa visit, but that's what happened. Some Rombauer wines are "higher end supermarket wines" which doesn't sound good but I ended up liking more of their wines than expected (especially from the $40 reserve tasting). Super fruit forward and 16% alcohol Zinfandel? Check. Rombauer’s current winemaker, Richie Allen, has been at the wine-helm since 2008. The wine itself is very "traditional" California wine. And since 1980, Rombauer has had only three head winemakers (not a small accomplishment, since it can feel like other wineries change winemakers with the seasons), allowing them to achieve and maintain a unique consistency of style. He even gave us a recommendation for dinner which proved to be great (go to Brasswood, the food is delicious). He was probably the most knowledgeable and friendly wine educator out of all the 9 wineries I visited this trip. Great view, good wine, and our wine educator was top notch. Dedicated to providing gracious hospitality, the Rombauer family and staff take pride in creating joyful moments for their customers across the country and at their Napa Valley and Sierra Foothills tasting rooms. The wine can't be good if the tasting is so cheap, right? WRONG. Rombauer Vineyards is a Napa Valley based, family-owned winery founded in 1980 by Koerner and Joan Rombauer. A $25 tasting when everyone else has $50+ tastings? Some other wineries charge $25 just to bring a child along (I'm looking at you, Robert Mondavi). When I was picking out wineries to visit on my Napa trip I wasn't too sure about coming here.
